Lesson 8
What is a Stablecoin?
USDT, USDC & co – stable cryptocurrencies
Stablecoins are cryptocurrencies whose value is pegged to a stable asset – usually the US dollar. They combine the advantages of crypto (fast, global, cheap) with price stability.
The most famous stablecoins are Tether (USDT) and USD Coin (USDC), backed by reserves in dollars or government bonds.
Stablecoins are the backbone of crypto trading: they enable fast transfers between exchanges and protect against price swings.
Important: stablecoins are not automatically risk-free. Check the issuer\\\'s transparency – a regulated reserve makes the difference.
